In the early 1970s, Volkswagen asked one of  the boldest questions imaginable:

How’s your love life?

Apparently, the answer involved hearts, flowers …… and painting them directly onto a Volkswagen Beetle.

It’s a car that captured  the spirit of an era. The VW Bug. What a car. Playful, optimistic and a little rebellious –it had a personality all its own.

The word iconic gets thrown around a lot, but in the LoveBug’s case, it’s well deserved.

The ad campaign created by the agency Doyle Dane Bernbach didn’t just sell a car — it changed the tone of automobile advertising entirely. (Honestly, that’s a post for another day).

But enough of that — it’s Valentine’s Day.

Amore, amore, amore.

How’s your love life?

However  you’d answer that question today, I hope it includes a little warmth, a little color and something that makes you and your special someone smile.
