Right now, everyone’s buzzing about the 2025 HGTV Dream Home in South Carolina. But let’s take a quick detour back to the 2018 Dream Home project that still stands out today.
That’s right—HGTV went full-on Modern Paper Houses mode with a stunning reimagining of a contemporary ’70s home in Gig Harbor, Washington.
And let me tell you—this one still holds up. Set against the backdrop of the Pacific Northwest, the house blends 70s architecture with a fresh, modern updates. The result is a dream home that feels warm, sophisticated, and unique. No surprise—it’s remained a hot property since its completion. In fact, the property has sold three times since its Dream Home debut, with the most recent asking price reaching $3 million last year.
But wait, there’s more.
HGTV, known for their stunning Dream Home construction projects, did something interesting last year.
Once again, they turned their attention to another Modern Paper Houses-style project, its 2024 Smart Home—a full renovation of a 1980s contemporary in Marietta, Georgia. Proof that these homes are relevant, they matter, and they’re worth celebrating.
